Lisa Persons, MDiv

Lisa serves as a Compassion Centered Spiritual Health Fellow at Winship ESJH. After graduating from Candler School of Theology in 1996, Lisa completed her chaplaincy residency at Peachtree Hospice. An Associate of Green Bough House of Prayer in Scott, GA, and affiliated with Ignatius House Retreat Center in Atlanta, she has worked for the past twenty years in spiritual formation and as a Spiritual Director, meeting with people individually and leading spirituality groups. She is happy to be returning to chaplaincy to pursue Board Certification and to experience the CCSH approach of integrating contemplative practice into healthcare.
Lisa grew up in Haddonfield, New Jersey, graduating from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She has lived in the Atlanta area since 1990 and raised her family in Decatur. Her work has included ministry with homeless people at Café 458, serving people with mental illness at Community Friendship, Inc., and helping start a L’Arche Community for adults with intellectual disabilities. Throughout she has been a part of the Community of Hospitality, Inc., an interfaith worship circle in Decatur, where she discovered ways sacred space can support the flourishing of each person.
Lisa attends St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Decatur where she is a Eucharistic Minister and organizes Taizé prayers. Favorite hobbies include playing oboe, cooking, birdwatching and the Alexander Technique. She enjoys time spent with her husband, young adult children, and her Havanese dog, Emma.
